Against the background of such names as George Rogers Clark, Daniel Boone. Arthur St. Clair, Anthony Wayne, Simon Girty, and William Henry Harrison, Eckert has recreated the life of one of America's most outstanding heroes, Simon Kenton. Kenton's role in opening the Northwest Territory to settlement more than rivaled that of his friend Daniel 5/5(6). Allan Eckert Book List Allan Eckert is the master storyteller of our age. If you are interested in stories that read like adventure novels, yet are historically researched to be as accurate as possible, Eckert is the author. My personal favorite is the story of Simon Kenton The Frontiersmen. If ever an amazing man's story needed to be told, it.

Get this from a library. Jimmie Stewart, frontiersman: the edited memoirs of Major General Sir J.M. Stewart. [J M Stewart, Sir; Robert Maxwell]. This book is not a biography, but a grade school report of the people and movies that surrounded Jimmy Stewart. There is a much better "biography" of Jimmy in the book, "Jimmy Stewart: Bomber Pilot" Though that book focuses mostly on his war years, there is better information about Jimmy's pre and postwar life in that book than there is in this 4/5(76).

Despite my apprehension, I was pleasantly surprised by Jimmy Stewart: A Biography. Although one must always be wary of any biography written on any celebrity--especially one who is dead and especially described in a book not Mark Eliot created some waves in "classic film star fans'" world when he published Cary Grant: A Biography a few years ago/5.

On December 7th, when the attack on Pearl Harbor woke so many others to the reality of war, Stewart was already in uniform - as a private on guard duty south of San Francisco at the Army Air Corps Moffet Field.

Seeing war on the horizon, Jimmy Stewart, at the height of his fame 4/5(6). The first book in the six-volume series known as The Winning of America in hardcover and Narratives of America in paperback.

The author did a great job writing and researching the book, it makes the book a great read, despite the length. Fans of the novel like that the Ottawa war chief was almost able to strike a deal that would have expelled the white man from America made things riveting.
